Two free guided walks are offered to visit the Reserve during the week-end.

On Sunday 20 August the guided walk “Furlo family” will take adults and children up to Monte Pietralata to enjoy the spectacular sight from the Apennines to the Adriatic sea at sunset. Meet at 16.15 at the visitor centre of the Natural Reserve of Gola del Furlo in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Guests will reach by their own cars Monte Pietralata. Waiting for sunset families and children will take part in fun games immersed in the mountain’s wonderful nature. The walk will be back at 21.30. Wearing waterproof jacket, sturdy shoes, pants, hat and layer clothing to be confortable as conditions change is recommended.

On Sunday 21 August guests can profit by “Tra le meraviglie della Gola”, the guided walk taking place on feast days. Meet at 15.30 at the visitor centre of the Natural Reserve of Gola del Furlo in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Thanks to their sequence of layered sedimentary rocks the mountains comprising the Reserve are the ideal place to observe the geological eras since 200 millions years ago. A naturalist guide will explain the sorts of plants and flowers and talk about the wild animals and birds of prey, such as the golden eagle, which can be admired in the protected area. It will be possible to admire also the two tunnels bored by the Romans along the via Flaminia, the grand road built during the III century B.C. to connect Rome to Rimini. The route of the excursion will be flat and accessible to everybody. Length of the walk: about 6 kms round trip.

Free admittance. Reservation is required for both events. Contact the Nature Reserve Gola del Furlo visitor centre. Phone: 0721-700041. E-mail: riservafurlo@provincia.ps.it
